You have got to be fargking kidding me! (When it rains it pours)

Well, my mother went in for a mammogram last week, then from there had a biopsy, and today we found out that she had breast cancer. Yeah, that fucking sucks. So, unless you've just popped on the Grunt Ahoy scene, that is two people with cancer in my immediate family at the moment: Me (Hodgkin's Lymphoma) and my mom (Boobie Cancer). My mother had Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma twenty years ago and nearly died. She doesn't need this again.

The good news is that hers was caught early and it can be cut out, with possible radiation therapy after. This is a relief.

I am now seeing the positive in this. My mom's life will be saved by good doctors. Wouldn't it be terrible if she didn't go in for a mammogram?

So, the moral of the story is that all you girls should get checked out, now. Sure, if you go in for a scary mammogram you might find out undesirable news, but you just may save your life. I will even volunteer my god-like hands to pre-screen you before you see the doctor. The princess and the pea has nothing on me.

Update: The type of breast cancer my mom has is DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ). and is non-invasive (thank God).

About your mother - what the holy hell is wrong with this universe? I'm thinking of you and your family and sending good vibes and stuff from the coast. Be on the lookout for 'em.

As to your prescreening offer, that's great because my health insurance sucks.

Do I need a referral?

Karyn~ No referal necessary.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. It sucks when someone close to you gets sick. But the good news is that it sounds like there will be an uber-positive outcome!!! yay!

I think its time for another virtual hug.

*HUG*

Hey there Cap'n. Me couldn't get it right the first time and me hope me be closer to the mark here.

Me be perturbed at the thought of bad things happening to what me has come to think of as good people. Me hopes that yer mom will be fine and that you will be too.

Now for the levity:

Iffin there's gonna be any "scary mammograms" Me be the one perfectly qualified to administer the examinations. Uh, Me promises not to handle yer mom's case.

I sure do hope that you and all of yer family ride this particular wave of ill tidings and malfortune with the strength of pioneers and with the spirit of purpose and the spark of life.

Stay Stompy.

i have my first mammogram scheduled for next week and I appreciate the offers for pre-screening but that may be bad for the general health of the parties involved, if ya know what I mean.
Hugs, Grunty, this too shall pass, right?
I mean, it HAS to stop eventually, right?

Jeez Louise, Mister. So sorry about your Mom, but glad it was caught so early. And you are such a selfless trooper to help us ladies out.

UNBELIEVABLE! This sucks big time.

I am happy to hear that it is the non-invasive type. My aunt went through this type and radiation about a year ago and is cancer-free and feeling good today.

And thanks for offering those god-like hands for a pre-screen. Do you accept most insurance or is this one of those free health care thingys?

Seriously man, enough is enough. I swear I'm going to personally reprimand the next person you know that gets cancer.

Okay, I honestly think that whoever is in charge of handing out ailments in this world needs to be a little bit more careful. It sucks when it all starts to pour on one family. Ridiculousness.

I'm glad that your mom's cancer has been caught early though. Just focus on this, I suppose...

On an unrelated note, do you watch the show the Office? If not, you should; it's really funny.

Sometimes it's just darned spooky the way these things happen. Bad things should never happen to good people. Thank God, your mother had the mammogram and caught it early. Here's hoping you and she both make speedy and complete recoveries.

At least one of my prayers was answered... I'm so thankful that she's going to be okay after the radiation. I'm so sorry, though, that the whole thing adds stress to your life right now.

...And I'm thankful that you are offering free pre-screening. When can I book my appointment?

O-Girl~ It's kind of like national health care. Don't worry, you are covered.

Sir McFatty~ Would you, please? I don't know if I can take another one of these.

Christielli~ I need to rent the series on DVD and watch it during treatments.

Serena~ You ain't kidding me there.

Jules~ My hands have always the time for my Pinky. That sounds funny when I say it that way.

Geez leave for a week and all hell breaks loose. Words can not express how I wish good news for you and yours. You joke about pre screening.. but that's how I found my lump.. getting hot and heavy with the man. The actual test isn't sunshine, similar to grabbing your balls and squishing them with pliers...

It sounds frivilious but.. take care!
