Me in my motion picture debut!

I know that it is a crappy video, shot with my Motorola SLVR L7, but it is still pretty cool. This was shot in Capitol Reef National Park during some medium rain. This gives you an idea what just a little rain does around that area. Because the place is mostly rock, the water cannot be absorbed. It just collects and collects until you get flash flooding. This little rapids shot is deceiving. The width of the water is about 10-15 feet across in some places where I shot and about 15 feet down from where I was standing. So, perspective and scale are a bit skewed.

I wanted to show the clip of The Who in concert, but I have had bad luck importing stuff from my phone to my computer. This clip was small enough to email, which cost me about three bucks to do. So, until I can get my computer to take it like good little, well, you know, I must wait. I could nickle and dime myself to death.

Anyway, I did open a Flickr account and will be doing one of those sidebar dealies with most of my vacation pictures from that particular trip.

If you can't understand what I said at the beginning, it was, "Somewhere in Capitol Reef". Classic! I deserve some kind of award. Remember, the camera, beef jerky, RC Cola and Moon Pies add ten pounds.

Water is amazing. I was always fascinated by the river running by my grandmother's house when the snow waters melted in the alps and the river became churning, engorged and wild.

That looks like a great place to visit. Even with the low resolution you could see the water going by. Awesome.

Even all rugged, you're a cutie! The sound of the water was wonderful... thanks for sharing!

Lovely debut!
I'll give it 5 out of 5 stars.
I couldn't tell you had been scarfing moonpies!

Excellent! You have a good phone camera thingy. I love rocks...and your unshaven face is adorable. You are a 'rock star'. Ha. And I am the queen of corn.

Really, we have a lot of flooding along our rivers too...it's dangerous...especially around all the clear cuts with no break for the slides...

Very cool. I need to get myself out West soon!

Man! That IS a LOT of water!!! It certainly didn't look like that when I was in Capitol Reef!

I'll bet that little roadside waterfall along the Fremont was like Niagara Falls on that day.

I was in SLC in 1983 while it flooded in may on my way home to Colorado. it is a trip to see all that water and no place to go.

great debut and we can tell what you are saying just fine.

Hey stranger!

Your motorolla takes excellent video...would you be interested in trading for my canon elph?

Nessa~ You are very fortunate to be able to have that childhood experience. I love watching water, rapids, floods...well, any water, too.

Kels~ It really is a neat place. For a drive by Southern Utah experience, going through Moab and visit Arches and Canyonlands, over to Capitol Reef National Monument, then down highway 12 to Boulder, keep going onto Escalante, then further on to Bryce Canyon, and if you still haven't seen heaven, go to Zion's. It can all be done in a week or less. It can be done in a day, easy, just driving, but it would suck to not get a chance to take it all in.

Jules~ When have I not been rugged?

Kayla~ Thanks, the hiking took care of burning excess calories. Bye bye, Moonpie!

Vera~ Are you doing your master's bidding again?

Cindra~ Aw shux! I try to keep myself clean shaven, but I can bust out the rockstar stubble when need be. Slides are scary. I can't even go to the park anymore. I break out in fits at how big they are and how fast you go down them. Oh, you are talking about mudslides. Heh-heh! Ignore what I said.

Scott~ Yes you do. You can get Outdoorsy Girl and a few other intrepid bloggers and we'll all hit the desert together.

JJ~ When I have a death wish. That's when...and a Sponge Bob life preserver with the optional water wings.

Lindzy~ Thanks! You inspired me to put video of myself. I don't have dancing cats or fetching labs, but I do have stubble and raging water.

O-girl~ Yeah, I know the one you are talking about. It was out of control. They had to close all spur roads down, as well as the loop.

QT~ I remember those floods. Where I lived there was a mudslide that took out a whole area of town. No one was killed, though. Homes were demolished, though. The cool thing was looking at State Street. The entire street was a river, and people were catching fish in it.

Hey, Pants!!! I missed having you around here. No trades, lol! My next phone will definitely have high-speed video, though. However, I love my I-tunes on this phone.

The cameraphone worked pretty well Mr. Grunt. I look forward to more of these outtakes and your vacation pictures. The water looks like chocolate.

The Grunt said...

Egan~ Yes it does look like chocolate, now that I think of it. If you take a white shirt and wash it in that water, it will be stained reddish brown. I think it makes them look cool.

Shit! Now you tell me about moon pies! (Are those the same as whoopee pies?) Goddamn it!

Sun Follower said...

You should have re-enacted that scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid! Two Thumbs Up!

The Grunt said...

Karyn~ Yes, blame me for any future weight gain. Moon pies come in vanilla, banana, and some other flavors, but my favorite is chocolate. They are basically three-tiers of round graham crackers with a marshmallow filling and covered in those flavors I mentioned before. Total gas station food. I usually dine on that cuisine on road trips only.

Sun~ Only if I can be Butch. Oh, and while you are suggesting this leap, would you care to join me? We'd get to rob a train and ride horses. Anybody else interested in starting a gang?

Me Myself and I said...

I think its possible that you could win an academy award for that line! You delivered it with such raw emotion and sheer devotion to your character. When do we get to see more of your handsome self?

The Grunt said...

Thanks, Celeste. I value being handsome, even when I am outdoors and without proper facilities.

I am working on getting my computer to take my phone's files without having the expense of emailing them to myself. I follow all the supposed steps and I still can't get them to import. My freakin' Itunes works flawlessly, but to actually get my pictures and videos on here, noooooooo, it has to go all diva on me.

I promise more, Celeste. After all the great pictures that you share, I think I owe you more of my rugged handsomeness.
