A memory

I was walking off a football pitch just North of Firth Park in Sheffield and stared at the soil and empty crisp packets and realized that I had chaffed ass cheeks from running around all day. I mean it really hurt bad. I also suck at footie. I remember feeling pretty down that little girls could run circles around me with a football. I also remember feeling out of place with my surroundings and my purpose for being there. Just overall not being able to understand accents and the people. Yeah, I was one of those guys who went around trying to save your soul, once upon a time. Now, I'm almost too busy trying to save my own to recall those days. God, it is weird to me. Those memories are like reading a book about someone else's life. I don't know why I am even posting this stuff. I agreed to not talk about it expressly, ever, on here. I don't think I will. You got a peek. Now it is time for you all to be all mystified and shit.

You are a tease.

Often our lives go in a direction we never thought they would, sometimes because we find a more important path.

Another good photo. And I'm jealous you've been to Sheffield. Saving, to save, to have saved. It's a big theme with me these days. You gotta save yourself first, or you're no use to anyone else or any other purpose.

I have Someone Else's Life chapters too. It's good to revisit them sometimes if only to remind ones self that monumental change is possible...

Religion for me was a desert, a place I had to enter, get chastened in, and finally cross... just grateful I didn't get lost and die there.

Great photo... very Sex Pistols punk without the blood.

Cute photo, there. You look so sweet and innocent. But I can also see that the day that this pic was taken was a long one.

I agree with what Kayrn said in her last paragraph. You've been through a lot of changes and experiences. It's no wonder that it seems you are recalling memories from another life.

I'm sure that even if you told us all about this, you'd still leave us mystified and shit. ;)

Wait! You were in Sheffield? Were you responsible for the full monty?
Are you the secret man of steel?

I seem to live in the "mystified and shit" zone anyway...
hehe
Nice photo, Grunt. The great thing about memories is that you can decide how you want to remember things..as in, put a different spin on a certain memory..connect it with a different feeling, if you like.

Letting a girl win at football when you play her is key. I should know ;) haha

Nessa~ This is true. I'm on a road to nowhere ~Talking Heads.

Karyn~ Where I am in life now is so different from then. I lived in many, many places in the North East of England.

Joe~ Religion is something else. I saw how much good it can do and how effectively people can use the structure to wield unrighteous dominion over their flock. I'm glad that you are where you feel you are better off. Funny how something that is supposed to divine can have wildly different effects on people. Religion fascinates me to no end.

Scott~ Thanks, but I did have a chaffed ass and blisters on my feet. I was in hell until I discovered the miracle of diaper cream. Here's your Grunt tip of the day: Put a little petroleum jelly on your friction areas down under when you are going to be out walking 10 hours a day for a long, long time in all weather conditions. Don't use anything water based. There is nothing sexy about any of this.

O-Girl~ Those were the longest days of my life. I prefer to tell the stories one on one and not in a public forum.

SM~ Maybe...I do believe in miracles. When I saw that movie I recognized some of the area where I roamed. Sheffield was only one of the many places that my bed roll was unfurled and my rucksack was carried.

Kayla~ This is true. I like the perspective I have on this part of my life now.

Chandra~ Oh, these girls were absolutely amazing. They were running circles around me.

Keshi~ Thanks. I was a "soul" man, I suppose. I identified with the Blues Brothers back then. I was Jake.

Jules~ Can I call you that now, Mystified?

Logo~ Amway is a golden opportunity for any entrepreneur. I thought you'd be singing its praises, but you just hatin'.
