Dog or cat?

I thought about this today. What would taste better? No, seriously! I don't plan on eating either and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody; in fact, I am against such entirely. But, I still want your theories. I have a friend who had worked and lived in Asia for a substantial amount of time and had eaten, unwittingly, dog. He said it was pretty good. Now, that is pretty effed up, I know, but it is weird how you can be introduced to something considered vile and then find out that you really like it. See where I'm going with this? Is it worth trying everything vile, because you might find yourself in a situation where you are cork sniffing over the nuances of something very damning, or grotesque. Do you really want to find that out about yourself?

wow. this is truly the kind of post I was hoping to find, as I sit here awake at 3 am because I can't stop coughing. (cue: feel sorry for me)

I just don't think I could eat dog because I love dogs so much. I know, cows have feeling too, etc etc...but I have an emotional attachment to dogs so I'd pass.

I don't particularly like cats. But I still would never eat one.

i think cat would taste better! cat's dont really do much of anything, pretty lazy... so i think that they prolly have more tender flesh to bite into... unless it was a really lazy dog... that might be alrighty... either way, i'd stay away from anything of a european variety... :D

I'd be willing to bite into almost anything that has its back to the sun or its belly to the bottom of the sea. One day Me will have to tell you about an adventure me had with a group o folks me was once travelin with, the Donners me thinks thier name was...

Ewww. My stomach is churning at the thought.

BUT if I have to guess, I'd say dog would be better. Cats are usually too lazy--too much fat there. (I'm looking over at Lucy right now---GAG!)Dogs would have leaner meat, I'd think. Then again, kittens are very energetic. They may be a delicacy like tender young veal.

Damn, I'm feeling really sick now.

In SE Asia I had chicken heads, fried chicken feet, and fried grub worms. I drew the line at picking a little bird out of a cage and letting a nice lady cook it for me-
for heaven sakes- it had just been twittering in the cage!

We saw someone field dress a large dog (ok- I missed that bit- but the lady next to me witnessed it from the bus window- and she turned a very queer shade of green!)

In SA I tried Croc, Kudu (like a deer), Ostrich, sable, and Hartebeest (kind of like a gazell).

I'm with Scary Monster here- I'd try just about anything...however, I don't think I would knowingly eat a dog or a cat. Or a rat.
Or a mouse.
eel is good though ;)

I might eat a little pussy if it was served up right... LOL! Smirk... okay, I can't keep a straight face after that comment.

I think Gunt is testing us to see who can come up with the most disgusting ideas. I'll eat pussy (cat)as long as it's not periwinkle. But I'd have to draw the line on dogs, well then again a dachsund with the works might not be too bad if I were at a ball game...

Kangaroo tastes great but you have to cook it quickly otherwise it goes tough.
Crocodile tastes like chicken.
Emu is ok,but a little gamey.
Snake is like chewy chicken - depending on how you cook it.
Cats and dogs I'd never touch - I KNOW what they eat !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

During WWII, my mother's aunt cooked their family dog when they ran out of food. My mother and her grandmother would not eat it, but her aunt said it was tasty.

I ate dog at a Laotian restaurant in Louisian many years ago, and it was very good (and no, I didn't ask what breed of dog it was).

Also, when I was in junior high, my best friends Dad bought a bunch of tamales from an old neighborhood woman. Only (way) later did we find out that they had been made from missing neighborhood cats.

So, speaking from experience, dog is the finer of the two meats, hands down. Cat was too stringy.
