Life, live it.

So, I didn't get the job. Poop knockers! Oh well, there are many other jobs in the world. I'm thinking of becoming a taco cart guy. That would be cool. Anyway, the director of information systems said that I was a strong candidate but that they opted to go with someone more qualified. He really felt bad and asked if I was upset with him. I told him that I'd be less upset if I had the job, but he could be a reference for me in the future. He was happy to do that and added that he would really like to see me apply for future openings in his department. I must say that my attitude and personality did carry me pretty far in this venture because the person that they chose over me is top notch. I would have had to have been trained whereas this person didn't. I respect his decision and hopefully the way I carried myself will open doors for me in the future.

Someday, I'd like to be a little more like my pops. I was helping him with some shopping at Costco and this woman in really short white shorts is in front of us in the line. My dad just says this out loud, "Wowee, check out the legs on that girl!" She turns around and sees my 78-year-old yoda-like dad holding his cane and dismisses him with a quick side glance and back to her purchase. At least he said what all of the guys in the vicinity were thinking. She had about the best pair of legs money can buy and she knew it. Did I ever mention that my dad has a big picture of himself smiling, framed, with the caption "I love me!" in his room? I'm just waiting for the mysterious beer can to appear in their fridge again. He needs his odd journey back to the way things were before he met my mom and got religion every now and then.

I know women like to go shopping, especially for shoes, when they get upset, or anytime really. I start looking on Ebay for guitars or amps. Hearing the news today about not getting the job was upsetting enough for me to just about plop down a couple G's for a Gibson Les Paul Standard. That is money I have been saving for either future medical expenses, school, or one night at a Reno brothel. Besides, pictured to the right is my exquisite early seventies Japanese knock-off of a Les Paul Custom, "Suzi" Suzuki. Suzuki, you know, the people that make violins? It is a great guitar that has some custom wind pickups that I had made for it. The new pickups are shown in this picture.

The pickups are W@gner Custom Rewinds and are worth the money I spent on them. Plus, who doesn't like zebras?

Thanks for letting me indulge in a bit of show and tell. It helped me from making an impulse purchase. Sometimes you have to remind yourself of what you already have to make yourself feel good inside.

So your Les Paul is the equivalent of my Jimmy Choos... I see, I see. This is good information.

It's rotten you didn't get the job - but I think you handled it gracefully and you have the right attitude. Also, it is a good good thing that the IS guy wants you to apply again in future.

All things in their time, no?

Thinking good thoughts for you -

Sorry to hear about the gig, but like you said, the way you carried yourself will lead to future endeavours I am quite sure.

Great guitar. I am thinking of picking up a Norman acoustic later on this week. I have been feeling the need to get back into playing.

I'm sorry that this job didn't work out, but... screw them! Maybe there's something else, even better, in store for you. In the meantime, give me the address and I'll leave them a nice present on their lawn.

I know nothing about guitars, but it looks sweet :)

Well, you are just one step closer to getting the RIGHT job. The only reason you weren't offered this one was because they didn't have to pay to train the other guy.

You know that I know nothing of guitars, but that one sure is pretty! ;) And it is good to see you getting back to what you love. :)

Retail therapy is next to godlyness (yes I can't spell). That sucks about the job... I've been there too many times. If it's not clothes as a typical woman, spending $500 on cds is just as fun. If that doesn't work put on your best tunes and get into bed and dance like an 80's gold dancer.

Oh and apparently listening to grunt Ahoy tunes crossing the border into America calls for National Guard Strip searches... hmmm...

Take care ;)

Karyn~ While there's nothing better than the real thing (don't believe Bono), I must say that my knockoff LP is nice.

Scott~ I'd pull the trigger on that purchase, Scott. I need to get into playing in a band to get my chops up again. I have my moments of greatness, but you have to keep it up.

Meggypoo~ I have good taste in guitars, that's for sure. As for the dirty deed, I hear that Metamucil works wonders.

O-Girl~ I have been getting more into the guitar stuff. It's summer and my fingers get happy.

Chandra~ Which song got them all strip searchy?

Keshi~ It's the same guitar, but different stages. The first picture is the one that the seller sent to me before I bought it. The second is what it looks like currently. My black Fender Strat is also a beauty.

Boo-urns that you did not get the job. But don't lose heart; I think sometimes life works in ways that don't immediately made sense. One of my closest friends hated her job and went through a tough job search with a few near missed but just landed an awesome job, so I know it'll happen to you too!

When I feel sad I buy.... umm, what store am I in?? I'll take whatever they sell! ;)

Well, now you have learned something- lie at your next interview and then learn whatever it is they think you know on the fly. That's what I would do, but then again, I haven't had a paying job since 2003.

Sorry about he job, but it sounds like doors were not closed for you. My guess is when it comes to being like your dad, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. Am I wrong?

i'll hire you.

Christielli~ Yeah, I figure that I will get something even better, like cheese taster.

Julie~ I could say something like I invented the left handed taco shell.

Diane~ People tell me that I have the best traits of my mom and dad. I guess that makes me pretty rad.

Crystal~ As long as I don't have to clean up after Bogey, I'm there.

Aww, Grunty, sorry you didn't get the job... just keep putting yourself out there.

Sounds like your Dad's got a few things to teach you yet!
