Inside the Mind of The Grunt

I scanned the inside of my mind today and this is what turned up. I think there's a story in here somewhere. Actually, it's a scan of a cyanograph that I did a while ago. Except for the horrible scan, only horrible artwork was involved. But, yeah, this is the kind of weird stuff that floats around in my noggin. I hope I didn't frighten anybody too bad.

P.S. click on the image, then enlarge, to get the full detail.

I thought I'd do some e-splainin' before anybody commented. I found a cache of old artwork from shool. So this is from some years ago. I got a kick out of it and am still mystified as to what ever possessed me to come up with it. Cyanographs are like a really lo-fi version of photography, using deadly chemicals (cyanide) and transparancy positive (in this case) or negative. You tape the positive or negative of your artwork to the treated paper, then you let it sit out in the sun to expose. After that's done, you take it into a dark room and develop it. It looks green before it's developed then it turns indigo after. I've done better. This one just amuses me.

Thanks for the comments, Pokey and Scott. In answer to your question Scott, I don't have it hanging anywhere yet. The inspiration, I believe, was from Terry Gilliam's artwork/animation--most widely known from his work in Monty Python and his movies. I photocopied old woodcut prints, cut them up, shrunk or expanded them as needed, and then spliced them in place. I wanted the dialogue to read like a ransom note, so I used words clipped from newspapers for that effect. I thought that I had lost all of this stuff. I found it, and other works, cleaning out a storage unit that my family shares. I don't do this kind of stuff anymore, and that's a shame. I'll have to see about posting some other stuff for kicks.

I second Pokey and Grunt! Having no artistic ability whatsoever, I cheerfully admit to some jealousy of anyone who has bypassed stick figures. Post some more.

Well, alrighty then! I've only one other cyanograph left that I made. The rest got damaged...arrgh. The other stuff is too big to be scanned, so I'll look into photographing them.

I can't wait to see the new stuff! I thought the piece reminded me of Monty Python, and now I know why

I see, Thomas. Then it was a sucess! You just have to channel your inner Spicoli, or smoke some peyote. Whatever works best for you.

I like this, Grunt. Be nice to see some more. I've heard of the process. There's nothing like photocopying, cutting up paper and using lethal chemicals to get your effects....getting your hands dirty. I was debating this with a friend the other day...he thought it was great that photoshop meant you didn't have to waste your time on that kind of labour any longer.....just click click click click etc

Sensational picture! What a tale within that print. I am not sure if it is a story on the lines of Death Grip of the Inner Mind or more like Harry Potter. But I would love to see more.

Sad to say, Dabugg, this is the only one of its kind. I thought of doing more then I got side tracked. Any real meaning is up to you, I suppose. On top of the obvious Gilliam influence, it's more of a cell from a dream. I find that dream logic is beyond our conscious grasp, but the giant baby (subconscious)inside of ourselves is digging it big time.

I have no resources to do more cyanographs right now, because this was done at college. I might find a way to somthing similar on a computer. It wouldn't have the same quality, I feel. Rather, it would be more story oriented. But these are scans, and all you guys are viewing them on computer monitors, so I don't think it makes a big difference.

Let's face the fact that a divorce can be mean and disheartening enough on its own, without adding in all of the stuff that can make it even worse. If approved, it would move through their Zero Stage funding group or to some other VC organization. Additionally, carrying out research on claims, he has in fact dealt with and that are similar to your lawsuit would be very beneficial in finding one who is good enough and dependable.

One of the greatest mistakes that fat people make is that of starving themselves themselves by missing meals.
Just get a piece of floss and tie it around the
skin tag very, very tight. Skin tags that grow in non-sensitive areas, particularly those that are always covered up,
are actually overlooked.
